Reason why Elena belongs with Damon and Stefan with Caroline is because in 2x13 Stefan tells Caroline that she doesn’t have to pretend with him and he sees through her completely and in 4x02 Elena takes Damon’s help because he understands her when Stefan is too absorbed in himself and wants to celebrate.
